In February of 2000, Mary (aka Nug) and Bill (aka Bug) Harris purchased the property from Jim Holcomb, whose family had owned the former dairy farm for close to five generations. Bug lovingly (and tirelessly) worked on restoring the old farmhouse (originally built in 1750) and the big, beautiful red barn that now houses Nug and Bug Antiques & Collectibles.
Sadly, on October 25, 2010, Bug passed away from a massive heart attack and his dream of having a successful antique shop was never realized.
In the spring of 2014, Nug decided it was time to sell the property, so she began "staging" the barn to look like an antique shop. As she began to spruce up the shop, her grief was transformed into joy and happiness -- so she decided not to sell the property -- but to reopen Nug and Bug Antiques & Collectibles instead.
Nug's best friend Lynn Moreau had "a few things" she wanted to sell at the shop. The rest, as they say, is history. Lynn, along with her husband Paul, are now an integral part of team Nug and Bug, lending their artistic talents and wonderful personalities that make Nug and Bug Antiques & Collectibles what it is today -- a gem of a place that is fun to visit. Coffee is complimentary and laughter abounds! The shop is filled with hundreds of amazing things -- but you actually have room to move around and browse stress free.
For Mary, relaunching Nug and Bug to honor Bill's legacy has been one of the best things she has ever done. Except perhaps for marrying her 7th grade sweetheart, Michael Daly on November 1, 2015. Happy endings do exist!
